Government of Canada Adopts the IHRA Definition of Antisemitism!

On June 25th, the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, Pablo Rodriguez, announced that the Government of Canada is furthering their efforts to combat antisemitism in Canada by formally adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism as a part of its new anti-racism strategy.

The IHRA definition definitively and explicitly recognizes that anti-Zionism- the delegitimization and demonization of the Jewish state- is a clear and unequivocal expression of antisemitism. The definition states clearly that Jew hatred includes applying antisemitic slurs to Israel, denying the Jewish people’s legitimate right to self-determination, accusing Israelis of blood libels, and holding Israel to double standards. The IHRA definition clearly exposes how the demonization of Israel is antisemitism, pure and simple, and now this definition is officially recognized by the Canadian Government as well.

On behalf of CIJA, please help us thank the government for taking this important step in combating antisemitism: https://cija.ca/ihra-gov-thanks

I have been to Israel. Love it. Love the people and the respect the Government, the medical advances, and my understanding that the hospital is open to Jew and Gentile, including Palestinian alike! And the openness of conversation there, for Jew and gentile. And so far as I know, to Palestinian or Arab.
