AJC Statement on Recent Offensive Graffiti at Halifax Churches
Halifax, NS – Over the weekend, two Catholic parishes in Halifax, St. Agnes Church and Saint Benedict Church, were vandalized with offensive graffiti.
In response, Naomi Rosenfeld, Executive Director of the Atlantic Jewish Council stated:
“The AJC was deeply disturbed to learn St. Agnes and Saint Benedict churches had been defaced by graffiti, especially since it appears these hateful acts took place on Easter Sunday, one of the holiest days in the Christian calendar. We know law enforcement takes criminal acts like this very seriously, and we hope the perpetrators will be caught and quickly brought to justice. To the congregants of St. Agnes and St. Benedict’s, we stand with you and hope that – despite this abhorrent incident – you had a joyous and meaningful Easter.”
