A Celebration of Jewish Music Concert will take place on Oct. 21 at 2:00 at the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts Lillian Piercey Hall, 6199 Chebucto Road. This program will feature music by the Canadian Jewish composers Leon Dubinsky and Srul Irving Glick, as well as Leonard Bernstein, Gustav Mahler, Ernest Bloch, and Naomi Shemer. Two string quartets from the Terezin Collection will be performed, as well as traditional Klezmer music, and a sing-along of well-known songs including “Tzena, Tzena” and “We Rise Again” will end the program.
Performing are the Conservatory Souvenir Folk Dance Ensemble, the Seton Conservatory Choir, the Conservatory’s Traditional Music Ensemble, a brass quintet, and members of the string, woodwind, brass and piano faculty, as well as special guest artists. Admission is by donation, please, to the Conservatory’s scholarship funds.
