Is Israel An Apartheid State?
Apartheid became the official policy of the Government of South Africa in 1948, following the election of the Herenigde Nasionale Party, later renamed the National Party. Under this policy, racial discrimination was institutionalized. The lives of the Africans who made up almost 75 per cent of the population, were controlled by unjust segregation laws from birth to the grave. They were told where to live, who to marry, and the type of education they would receive in the country of their birth.
In 1948, Israel was created with the promise of freedom for all its citizens. While Israeli Arabs sometimes face difficulties similiar to minorities in other democracies, they are granted full rights and status under Israeli law. Israeli Arabs hold prominent positions in Israeli society, including membership in the Israeli Knesset (Parliament), the Supreme Court, and the diplomatic roles including Ambassadorships.
The apartheid accusations is a lie with little factual basis in reality and was designed to confuse an ill-informed public. Not only does this accusation shamefully exploit and diminish the just struggle against injustices of South African apartheid, it allows propagandists to make even bolder claims, with some absurdly comparing the Arab-Israeli conflict to the Holocaust.
