Synopsis
The result of a lucky piece of cinematic archaeology, Ben-Gurion, Epilogue is a documentary based on a previously unknown six-hour interview that filmmakers Yariv Mozer (My First War) and Yael Perlov stumbled upon when working on a restoration of another film about him. Conducted five years after Ben-Gurion left office, the interview is an intimate portrait of the former Prime Minister as he reflects on his life’s work, including things that he would have done differently in hindsight. Political reflections are mixed with more personal archival footage, including Ben-Gurion challenging Yehudi Menuhin to a handstand competition.
The film brings to life a lost interview with of one of the modern history’s greatest leaders, David Ben-Gurion. It is 1968, he is 82 and lives in the desert. Ben-Gurion’s introspective soul-searching provides a surprising vision for crucial decisions Israel needs to make today. At the time of the global leadership crisis, the film also brings thought-provoking insights about the role of leaders in today’s complex world.
