Legal Challenges Facing Israel in the International Arena

Come hear Israeli Foreign Ministry’s Director of International Law, Sarah Weiss-Ma’udi speak on the current set of challenges and opportunities Israel faces with its neighbours.

Sarah Weiss-Ma`udi is the Director of the International Law Department at the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In this position, she has served as counsel in matters relating to: maritime law; water law; international borders; international law relating to natural gas and oil, the recognition of states; Israeli domestic sanctions policies; human rights law; humanitarian law; counter-terrorism; and Israeli policies vis-à-vis its neighbors (Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and the Palestinians) and the European Union.

Prior to working at the Foreign Ministry, Ms. Weiss Ma’udi worked as an associate lawyer for Gross, Kleinhendler, Hodak, Halevy, Greenberg & Co., one of Israel’s top corporate law firms, specializing in international contract law. She also taught public international law at the Ono Academic College in Israel and worked at the Israel Ministry of Justice’s International Treaties and Litigation Department.
