Nova Scotia Missions Reunion

In Halifax on Saturday evening, June 8th, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs hosted an informal get-together of Nova Scotia-based alumni from past political, student leader, journalist and business leader missions to Israel. Particularly noteworthy was the attendance of Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter and Peter Stoffer, MP for Sackville-Eastern Shore. Matthew Godwin and Valerie Chisholm coordinated the event, which was also attended by Dylan Hanley, CIJA Director of University Relations (and leader of many missions to Israel) , Atlantic Jewish Council Executive Director Jon Goldberg, Atlantic Canada CIJA consultant Mark David, and members of the local Jewish community. Buoyed by plentiful amounts of Israeli wine, spirits were high as people re-connected and made new connections. The formal part of the evening was brief, but powerful, as Premier Dexter spoke of the importance of supporting the only democracy in the Middle East and the efforts of his Government to increase economic, technological and academic ties between Nova Scotia and Israel.
