Shavuot at the Shaar 2018: Sunday and Monday, May 20-21

Please join us for Shavuot services, Sunday and Monday May 20 and 21, beginning at 9:15am and special learning sessions each day, to follow:

Following Sunday’s services, we will have two study sessions, one after the other, each approximately 40 minutes long:

  •         at 12:15pm, Session 1: “The Reason For the Sinai Revelation According to Maimonides;
    Or, Faith and Knowledge In Judaism    ” with guest scholar Ori Werdiger.
  •         Session 2: “Stuck In The Middle With Jews: What Makes Conservative Judaism a Special
    Kind of Judaism?    ” with Rabbi Rank.

Following services Monday, we will have two study sessions, one after the other, each approximately 40 minutes long:

  •         at 12:15pm, Session 1: “The Relationship Between God and Israel: Romantic Love or Legal
    Contract?    ” with  guest scholars Hannah Mayne & Ori Werdiger
  •        Sesssion 2: “Can Lab-Grown Meat be Kosher? A Case Study of Genetic Modification and
    Jewish Values    ” with Rabbi Weiss
