For the last 7 years, the AJC has proudly organized a team of volunteers from the Jewish community in Halifax to prepare and serve Christmas lunch for more than 2 dozen patrons of Spencer House Seniors’ Center in Halifax. The festivities, which have grown to include entertainment and individualized gift-giving for the seniors, have become a holiday tradition for many in the Halifax Jewish community and provide these seniors with both a warm meal and relief from the isolation that the holidays can bring.
This year, despite the pandemic, we chose to move forward with the 8th year of this beloved tradition in a pandemic-safe way: delivery-only and a very limited number of volunteers who wore masks and practiced social distancing. Please see above for some pictures taken.
We are so grateful for the overwhelming support we continue to receive for this initiative and cannot wait to see everyone and bring back for our in-house festivities next year!
