The AJC Expresses our Condolences on the passing of Theodore Fontaine
Theodore Fontaine, former chief of the Sagkeeng Ojibway First Nation and survivor of the Fort Alexander and Assiniboia Indian Residential School, passed away on May 10th.
In 2017 Theodore Fontaine shared with us his story of trauma and his journey toward healing, in a memorable program as part of Holocaust Education Week in Halifax. Ted’s story educated and provided us with powerful insights into the Residential Schools, and we greatly appreciated his openness and willingness to share his painful past as well as his process of healing by writing his memoirs, Broken Circle.
The Atlantic Jewish Council sends the Fontaine family our deepest condolences.
