Community Events Coordinator
Start Date: June 5th, 2017
End Date: Aug. 11th, 2017
Hours per week: 30
Number of weeks: 10
Hourly wage: $12.50
Location: Halifax, NS
Responsibilities:
- Planning and coordinating events during the summer including:
- Young adult BBQ’s/social events
- Programs for families with young children
- Shabbat dinners
- End-of-summer Shabbaton (weekend-long retreat) at Camp Kadimah
- Preparing for fall events including:
- Holocaust Education Week
- The Atlantic Jewish Film Festival
- The 2017 UJA Campaign
- Enhancing communication, public relations, and events-related marketing
- Developing a new marketing and sales strategy for Shalom Magazine, our tri-annual publication
- Ensuring that all records/organizational lists are accurate and up-to-date
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor, Naomi Rosenfeld, Executive Director
Qualifications:
- Trustworthy with sensitive information, able to work independently
- Proficiency in written and spoken English, knowledge of Hebrew/Russian would be an asset
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
- Results-oriented, proactive, and resourceful with a quality-standards approach
- Flexibility regarding assigned work hours, willing to work some evenings and/or weekends
Eligible Applicants*:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to attend a post-secondary institution on a full-time basis in the next academic year
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and, be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
- Applicants studying business, management, economics, psychology, sociology, social work, or related subjects will be given preference
